Lost finale meta and spec for season 6

May 14, 2009 18:20

Apparently, I wrote some pretty thinky meta in the wake of the finale. 2700 words worth, lol. I did it to work out some things I've been thinking for a while about the show, but I thought I'd share it in case anyone's interested in reading one person's argument why Lost is not going to hell in a handbasket ( Read more... )

I really like this. It's organized. That makes me happy.

I had not even thought of (c) Current time/location but nobody knows each other anymore (only 1 true That would be so weird! Might make for good fic, maybe.

My personal theory is a combo of bi&ii -- they're back on the plane and it's not going to crash so they have their memories *and* get a life reboot. But I don't have a reason to think this other than that I do.

Also, I think localized insanities is the best description of Lost, ever.

I really don't think (c) makes any more sense than (a)...which is why they might do it. At least it's possible, where I don't think Jack's vision of the future is.

I think you might be right about the reboot. Then again, I'm leaning toward Lou's idea, too. I don't know.

Thanks for humoring my crazy meta. :)

Yay, you've given me more proof that (c) just won't work. And you've pointed out another awesome way to look at the structure of the show! I think you're right that each season has moved the group into bigger, crazier things, so we can expect something epic with season 6.

Aha!--and your current theory helps me fold that wacky naked Desmond failsafe plot into the current story. I think it's totally possible that the whiteout did something supernatural to the people around the explosion site. Let's hope it's awesome enough to get them back to 2007. :)

There was a time when I didn't believe there was an endgame, but I've been certain of that for a while now, and it's the thing that keeps me watching--that I feel like they know what they're doing.

I think I'm still in denial, honestly.

Man, if we had to get rid of a female character, why couldn't it have been Kate? :(

I love your mind! and you all organize it for me! I had not thought about some of those scenarios, but like you I agree that most possibilities do not give way to great TV, so in the end only a couple are probable. and I think I'm sticking to mine! lol! =D

I really do think your idea is the most likely. Absolutely fudging on the sci-fi to suit their own purposes (getting the '07 people and the '77 people back together!) is totally their kind of move.

I bookmarked this long ago without reading it because after the season finale I didn't know what to think and I wanted to think by myself for a while. Then I forgot about this until the luau brought my love for Lost on the surface again and I went through my bookmarks.

This ridiculously long preamble to say that I really liked this, and I think you are very right that some of the options don't make sense, from a storytelling point of view.

I don't have anything to add, except that now I'm very curious about what s6 has in store. I only wish it would start in September like most other shows!

I'm so curious, too!

Thanks for reading through my overly-academic ramble and letting me know what you thought. :)
