Mission

I am convinced that my mission, and the mission of any Christian, is not effectively described in the concept of "witnessing". It is much greater than that. I believe that as a Christian I am meant to be an agent of good in the world. As a part of the body of Christ, it is the job of Christians to bring the Kingdom of God into the world now. I kind of agree, but maybe not completely. Brandon made a good point one time that maybe only some people have a special calling to be evangelists - whereas for a while I had assumed we were all called to evangelize because of the Great Commission.

I tend to think I shouldn't go around telling people my religious beliefs, but rather wait until they ask me about them. In that sense I'm not in support of "witnessing", though I think to drop those quotes might be to commit the fallacy of equivocation.

However, I am fully in support of converting people, and of people converting me, and I don't see what's the problem with that.

Oh - maybe I didn't read carefully enough. I agree that we shouldn't do good with the intention of converting people.

Yup. Converting people is awesome, but doing good shouldn't be made a mere sub-activity of conversion. I guess we both agree now.
