In fact, when Emily had given him the letter from Elizabeth, explaining the situation, he'd briefly toyed with the idea of confessing to the crime, to ensure her safety. Emily had smacked him upside the head and told him not to be stupid.

Oh, I love the image youve put in my mind. And now my Nikolas and Emily love grows.

"I've decided to forgive you for not telling me you were going to see Elizabeth, I'm sure you had your reasons but honestly, Nikolas, did you think you'd get away with it?"

He opened his mouth and then closed it. "Yes," he said after a moment. "I absolutely thought I was going to get away with it."

I'm actually kind of glad that Emily stowed away too. There's something to be said about strength in numbers and for whatever reason Elizabeth asked Nikolas to see her, I know that having Emily there would help.

"No," Elizabeth shook her head, smiling wistfully. "He'd never forgive himself, no matter what he'd end up choosing. I won't do that to him. I need you to help me disappear so that even Jason can't find me." ( ... )
