The panic wells up, that familiar urge to flee. Still, he says the words. “I love you too.” And the trapped feeling diminishes somewhat as he takes her in his arms and kisses her. Then she’s playfully asking for it again; a request he ignores as he continues moving his mouth over hers. But she’s insistent. “No, I’m serious. Say it twice.” So he does, murmuring it against her lips, and again the admission lessens his compulsion to run. So he keeps saying it, over and over until the impulse fades and there is nowhere else he would rather be.
