Holiday Lights

My wife loves Christmas lights, so our recent winter evening activities have involved looking at holiday lights. In recent weeks:

- We walked up and down Seabury Avenue in Fairview Park last weekend. Almost the entire street decorates, ranging from "mild" to "over the top" and they ask for donations to charity.

- On Friday night we went to the Shaker Lakes Nature Center, which had lined their boardwalk with luminary bags. Birdie had to check each and every bag to confirm that it had a light in it, sometimes multiple times. Thankfully, they were electronic and not candles.

- Tonight we went out to the Carlisle Reservation in the Lorain Metroparks. They had a nice walking loop decorated with an assortment of Christmas decoration.

I'm sure we'll head out to at least a few more this season, whether here or when we visit her parents in Columbus.

Our house is also decorated, of course. M's tastes run toward a riot of colors and styles. She thinks plain white is boring. A few weekends ago M hung lights along the front of the house, including a "tree" build out, and then ran lights along the fence line as well. It looks very nice, albeit not probably quite as over the top as she'd prefer. She missed out on Halloween decorating beyond plastic statuary due to the waterproofing, but she normally decorates for that as well. She went out and picked up more Halloween decorations when they were on sale after the holidays.

This is all a little weird for me, as my family never decorated outside the house for the holidays and rarely decorated much indoors. Since she does all the work, I'm not going to argue with her! The Hallmark movies, on the other hand...
