PKT25: Commentary from Susan on Touring the House
Next up on the Fraternity House Tour Commentary is my pledge brother Susan. Since she was a junior when we pledged, she graduated in 1998. She was originally from Canton, Ohio, and after graduation she got married, moved to California with a stop in Chicago, worked for Apple, got divorced, ended up in Portland and now works maintaining hiking trails.
Susan on the Outside of the house
An outside story snippet: The only time I ever saw a literal dumpster fire was one summer in front of the garage when *some brother* (I know who, but won't name) decided to try to burn the inside of the (plastic) dumpster clean.
I can still remember the flaming drops of plastic falling from the bottom of the dumpster to the ground as the bottom melted and burned through.
Susan on the Dungeon
The summer before I pledged I lived in The Dungeon (there is a window). The only type of person who would paint it black is the type who would *start* practicing guitar at 1am. While said person was doing that, I lived across the hall in the Wine Cellar.
Susan on the Abyss
The Abyss wasn't that bad -- I lived there the spring after I pledged. I think I installed some shelves in the closet in there or something.
Susan on my supposition that she had done some work on the 3rd floor bathroom
I do remember looking under the shower stall to see there was no trap and seeing that the sink drain was connected to its trap via a lot of duct tape, but that's all. They might have gotten tackled on a work day, but when I was house improvements, the big project was the drop ceiling over the bar.
Susan on The Cave
I remember the was an old fridge in The Cave that, when it kicked on, would drop the line voltage such that the CRT TV in the room had its image shrink in from the edges of the screen. I’m sure both the fridge and TV are long gone (I hope).
