Eating Out Fourteen - Finishing Europe
The last of the food from my Europe trip.
213. Thursday, September 3 - I had some breakfast from a couple of different street vendors in the old city of Barcelona.
214. Thursday, September 3 - I had lunch at a European fast food joint called Pan in the Barcelona Airport.
215. Friday, September 4 - My hotel in Granada had a solid breakfast.
216. Friday, September 4 - After a long day at the Alhambra, I had dinner at a restaurant called La Hacienda Plaza near the hotel. I ate arroz negro with fried sardines, which was basically a black rice paella. I remember it being wonderful.
217. Friday, September 4 - I had gelato for dessert from a chain ice cream place.
218. Saturday, September 5 - I had breakfast at my hotel in Granada before cabbing to the airport.
219. Saturday, September 5 - I had lunch at in the airport.
220. Saturday, September 5 - There was a food stand in a plaza along the Avenue de Liberdade. If my notes are accurate, it was called Bananafruit and I had a salad for a late dinner.
221. Sunday, September 6 - My chain hotel in Lisbon had a great breakfast spread.
222. Sunday, September 6 - I had Pastéis de Belém.
223. Sunday, September 6 - I found a street-side cafe called Cafe Brasilera (possibly) and ordered some a Portuguese salted cod dish for dinner.
224. Monday, September 7 - The chain hotel breakfast did have their take on the Pastéis de Belém. They weren't quite as good as the real thing, but still more than serviceable.
225. Monday, September 7 - According to my notes, I had lunch at Ciao Milano. I don't recall anything about it.
226. Monday, September 7 - I was tired of seafood, so I tried a local Indian curry place. For a city that has so many British tourists, it sure didn't have good curry.
227. Tuesday, September 8 - For the third time, I had breakfast at my chain hotel.
228. Tuesday, September 8 - My notes for lunch say "Aura" and "crepe". You'd think I'd remember that!
229. Tuesday, September 8 - My final dinner in Europe was a fado concert at a club called Aviela do Fado that came with a many course meal. Pork was the entree.
230. Wednesday, September 9 - My last breakfast in Europe was once again at my chain hotel in Lisbon.
231. Wednesday, September 9 - United Airlines served me lunch as I headed west over the Atlantic.
232. Wednesday, September 9 - Newark Airport isn't New York City, but it's close enough to get New York style pizza at the Tagliare pizza chain.
