1. Letter to a whiny young Democrat
Good read. Even for non-Americans, this commentary on the fickleness of the voting youth is true everywhere in general.

Marry me Michael Weatherly! I need more laughter in my life.. )

Unfortunately, it's not just young people with that mindset. They may have failed to turn out in huge numbers and swing their pivotal vote block, like before; but all too many Americans think this way. They're too stupid to grasp the fact that this situation has been ~decades in building-of course, it's going to take more than a few years to fix!!!

You're right.. I'm sure its not just a young people thing. But I think this demographic stood out for its boycott of the elections and especially because the same demographic is credited largely for Obama's win. *shrugs* It's just sad that people don't understand that change takes time.

I think it's unfair to blame a single demographic for the outcome of an election (give the idealistic kids a break, they'll be old and cynical soon enough). That being said, I don't think what we're getting is any worse than what we've had. Politics are such in Washington that even good people can't accomplish anything without diving into crap. Everyone was apeshit Obama crazy and celebrating all this change for America, because he's a slick talker, and people love inspirational speakers, and they wanted to believe. But politicians are politicians, whether democrats or republicans, and the only thing that surprises me is that people are surprised. Expect change to be slow, ardurous, and not at all in the form you anticipated. And don't expect to get anything without giving a hell of a lot. And yeah, okay, I think I'll go stomp on some flowers now... *facepalm* :)

Sorry I can understand how impassioned you guys must be. And like I was telling real above, of course this demographic isn't he only one responsible but it seems to largely stand out because they've been so supportive before and are so.. Not supportive now heh. But about all the rest.. yeah I'm sure you have a better idea of how its going for the Obama administration. I just think the expectations the man is saddled with are just ridiculously unrealistic.

Um hey hon, I hope you're not mad at me for posting this link? I kind of actually really enjoyed the article because of the snarkiness hehe.. I probably wouldn't know the first thing about how accurate its contents were. *sheepish* Hope the stomping on flowers helped a little? ;) *hugs*

OMG, sweetie, of course I'm not mad at you for posting a link, and I totally get what the guy is saying, but the kids weren't the only one to believe what this guy was selling. I'm not saying he's worse than any other politician - I just don't think he's better, either. I agree, that people's expectations are unrealistic, but then what's he's given hasn't been what he was selling, either. And I wouldn't exactly call me impassioned, LOL - more like resigned. I'm tired of big govenment thinking the people are too stupid to make their own decisions - I live in an area where they're trying to get the kids' toys banned from Happy Meals (because OMG, the kids will want the toys so badly that parents will absolutely be unable to say 'no' if they don't want their kids to have it). I mean, seriously? Okay, Americans don't have trouble with their weight because they're stupid and they don't know what they're eating isn't good for them. Americans have trouble because the culture and economy dictates that both parents work, and sometimes ( ... )

I think its great that you still do feel somewhat strongly about what is obviously a grave concern for this country hon. Better than the apathy I've noticed in many other folks that I met recently in DC of all places.

NCIS really does make me happy these days heh :) I feel pressured to write because I still have a bunch of WIPs to finish and these damn (awesome!) NCIS reruns are keeping me from getting to them hehe. But I'll just wait for inspiration to strike and if it doesn't, well, too bad.

Hope your muse is treating you better than mine! :) *hugs*

Reading is always good...you can't always write either, just go with it...your writing mojo will come back eventually and if not, well...you can always read some more! :)

About NCIS and fanfic: Beware, girl, beware! 75% of them are duds. Painful duds. There's a lot of fanfiction but ouch, most of it is written by smitten high school girls, really *cringes* My advice? Read stuff people rec you, it's safer that way.

Thanks for the tip! Isn't that kind of true for all fandoms though? ;) But you're right.. I'll start with the rec lists. Do you have any hon, perchance? ;)

Thanks for the link to the letter. Isn't it a shame that we only gave them 2 years to fix problems at least 8 years in the making?

That's what I found most intriguing about this too... that this generation is completely smitten with instant gratification and clearly not enough people opted to study economics and/or public welfare in school so they just don't understand it heh.
