Summary: It probably was not becoming for someone to be as proud as he was of their own creations, but Minato could not help himself.
Disclaimer: Naruto is Kishimoto's.
Notes: Seal mechanics were inspired by Ellenlome's sadly unfinished Naruto: Firebird.
Theme: 055. Spirit ( fanfic100)

It probably was not becoming for someone to be as proud as he was of their own creations, but Minato could not help himself. It was a shame that it would be a long time until anyone became aware of the full extent of his genious.

He had explained to the Third that the markings on Naruto's cheeks were a secondary seal he had devised to keep the demon fox's spirit and thoughts separate from Naruto's. He shuddered to think of what kind of child the little blond would grow up to be, if he had to endure the constant, poisonous presence of the Kyuubi at the back of his mind. Still, while Sarutobi had understood the basics of how the seal functioned and how to reinforce it if necessary, Minato knew that the old man was far from being an expert on fuuinjutsu. He doubted the former Hokage could appreciate the level of skill it had taken to make such a seal.

The individual symbols were small enough that the naked eye could not recognise them - a measure to ensure that their true nature was kept secret - and the way each of the seal's six parts interacted and contributed to the whole was nothing short of artistic. The balance of powers had been tuned to perfection, guaranteeing that it would never intrude on the little boy's psyche. It was so subtle that even Naruto would never be aware of its workings.

He was damn proud of his achievement, but more than that, he was glad beyond relief that he had been able to save his son and his village. After all, the best made seals would always be reduced to random scrawls if they could not be used and it made him swell with pride that it had been his scrawls that had saved those two.
