this was really beautifully written and your portrayal of a clueless Arthur who couldn't / can't figure out that Eames did love him and can't admit to himself that he loved Eames(and still does, i presume) was perfect, although kind of sad. But it doesn't have to be Fluff all the time!
But i didn't really get why Eames didn't show up on the 3rd april if he only died at the end of May? or did he leave on the 3rd of April and he just never came back? (i read the april date as a kind of signifier that time had past)
Sorry if this post comes out as anon (lj is 'wat' on my phone right now for some reason) but it's Cy.
I always forget my writing is urpy with dates and time passing /orz. But the idea was Eames leaves in April, dies in May and Arthur never hears from him again so he assumes Eames is off living his life/ being a party monster etc etc.
that makes perfect sense actually. It is just that i have been overlooking one of my friend fics and she uses dates as kind of chapter titles, so that was the mindset i was in when reading this. But your way of putting it is pretty logical too and I think if i hadn't read them pretty much one after the other I wouldn't have wondered what you meant.
this is quite lovely... I always have this thought about lj (totally different situation I know) but if someone on lj died and they kept their lj and private life apart, none of their friends on lj would know... they would have just kinda disappeared... thanks for sharing...
