They should know better than to give classicists a prompt like "historical AU". The only prossible result is participles EVERYWHERE and fun with names and then EVERYBODY DIES. HAHAHAHAHAH!! Fear my nerdery!

(It's totally historical. In a Herodotean way. "Father of lies" is such a harsh term

I haven't been up to the Getty villa in ages, but I loved how they'd put the pornographic vases in the back of glass cases, and you'd go around the back and find all these nose prints. Maybe they just didn't get cleaned as much back there, but it was funny.

And I am still reeling over "Patterns" as the best song ever for Auron's life.
And the pattern never alters until the rat dies. AUGH. I will never hear that song the same way again.
(Which was, for a brief time in late high school, my favorite song.)

I don't think I will, either. No wonder it wouldn't leave my head and let me think about the prompt in a non-songfic way. But the pattern still remains on the wall where darkness fell, and it's fitting that it should, for in darkness I must dwell. ASDFGHJ.
