Because there we are, blathering away about how Hollywood appears to be under the impression that I, as a woman, a)have no money, and b)if I have money, see no movies. (Okay, both are kind of true, but they relate to me as a student and a textual person, not as a woman.) And therefore they need not provide any movies for me. I like that idea. An indie film company that makes women's films. I hope you or someone else picks this up and runs with it.

I hope somebody does, even if I don't. Because then I could see them! And there could be movies that I enjoyed whole-heartedly! Without feeling disappointed afterwards because I just got conned into watching another straight white guys movie!

I'm ever so tired of movies where the straight white male gets to do everything important and the women and minority races and non-straights are just sidekicks...or played for laughs.

I was just saying earlier tonight that I want to see an action movie written by a woman. With explosions and things. Shootouts. Car chases. And... characterization and depth.

Yes! Entirely! But the overwhelming message from the industry is that such a movie will not be allowed in Hollywood, because women do not watch movies, women certainly do not watch action movies, and men would be turned off by a female lead. Therefore the only solution is to make our own industry.

I certainly watch action movies--if they're interesting. Regrettably, a lot of them aren't.
