Adrian really, really hates working for Torchwood sometimes.

Not like he asked for the damn job, and very much not his fault that his Mark is the group’s damn boss.

Also, he thinks, it would figure that Dusty was the only person he could reach.

“Are you… Do you need, like, a belt or something?” She’s staring and trying not to giggle and Adrian can’t blame her, precisely, but he really really wishes she wouldn’t.

“No,” he says. It doesn’t sound nearly as quelling as it should when his voice is at least an octave higher than it was that morning. Goddamn Jack. Goddamn alien machines. Goddamn Torchwood. Dusty has both hands over her mouth now and is turning pink in a way that suggests very heavily suppressed amusement.

“It’s not like I asked for this,” he repeats, for at least the millionth time. He winces. “Fine. I asked for the clothes. I didn’t ask for Jack to fiddle with the damn gun while I was in the room and I definitely didn’t ask for it to go off while I was standing there. He said it was pointed the other f-- fuzzing way
