A Third Life?

So, in an effort to get a feel for Life For The Newbie, I created an additional account about a month ago. I've run her through the paces of getting oriented, hit the freebie bins to get her outfitted and attended a number of newbie classes to find out what sort of questions were being asked and how well they were being answered ( Read more... )

Wow, this is fantastic!

And, really terrific timing - I was just looking at the CSI SL site, and thinking about going through the newbie experience with an alt, and wondering what on earth I would actually *do* with an alt....

I still don't know the answer to that last one, but I'm going to do it, tonight or tomorrow, try the OnRez viewer and go through the whole CSI orientation. That gives me some time to figure out whether they'll be their own person, or just a tool of mine - but then, I didn't exactly allow the Other Personality to make that choice for *me*!

Thank you so much for this!

Ohhh, Beginning Thursday is a great name for an alt!

I created a (now deleted) alt a little while ago to check out some free newbie skins I'd really wanted to see. I didn't keep her for long - just that day. For me, one of the weirdest things was being greeted by another name.

And of course being on the non-public orientation island again was a strange feeling. While I was there, someone actually asked me "Is this your first time here?". That was a strange feeling too, because the question never would have occurred to me when I was a first-time newbie, as they were.

I find I have no idea if you are female or male. How perfect.

I shift genders quite regularly in Second Life. I keep my male and female shapes in separate folders. What shape I wear depends on my mood, or what clothes I feel like wearing.

The gender of my fleshy self is not a secret, but since you seem to prefer the ambiguity, I won't blurt it out here. ;)

Obviously she couldn't say much when I was busy building for that round of Mystery Build, but she did get in a short IM conversation with somebody who liked the name. She mostly hung back because she didn't know anybody that well just yet.
