i dont believe that you don't care about your family. I don't believe it because you contradict yourself within this text. you DON'T want to hurt their feelings. Thats just my input, think what you will of it. besides, God says that this country rules and you should appreciate that. On a serious note, I know im probably not the one you want to be hearing from, but I dont think you should worry so much. You can get an A+ on the senior project even if you didnt finish it, as long as you can anylize what went wrong. secondly, even if you really dont care about them, they obviously want to spend time with you, or else they would have left you behind, i say you humor them. There will be opportunities to catch up there will be more time. there is always more time. that is all.
