I'm more curious about the new Insight which, as I am sure you know, is purported to be similar to the Prius, but less expensive.

From what I gathered, Honda's upgrading the same basic technology that's currently in the hybrid Civic. I'd expect the Insight to be essentially a cheaper Prius with a smaller battery pack and less sophisticated hybrid system (integrated motor assist versus full parallel plug-in on the 2010 Prius). The Insight should help fill out the lower end of hybrid offerings on the market. You've got the GM Volt, the Toyota Prius, and the Honda Insight in order of decreasing fuel efficiency and cost so that people who can't afford a high purchase price can still buy an eco-friendly car. Choice is a great thing to have!
