"For a while, he kept the animal away by buying a generator, lighting up the area, and playing thumping Serbian turbo-folk music."

Also. It's NOT St. Patrick's Day. Technically St. Patrick's Day doesn't actually exist this year, except for the Republic of Ireland, where it was observed on Saturday.

Next you'll be telling me that 2000 wasn't the millenium, Santa doesn't exist, and that we're all alone in a godless universe!

Apparently.... Holy Week takes precedence, so they just don't appear on the calendar.. If there is sufficient cause, priests can celebrate them on the first convenient date. Or something.

I read that somewhere. It might be bollocks. I'm just grumpy because people keep assuming I care about St. Patrick's Day because my hair is green. I don't drink! I'm not Irish! I'm not religious! ;)

...and in my own little world, where it was observed Friday, Saturday, Sunday and will be oh-so-devoutly observed tonight. :)

That's okay because the majority of people "celebrating" (by which I mean getting drunk and acting like twats) are not as Irish as they claim to be.
