How do you keep up?

I've got an LJ account and a Facebook account. I think I have a MySpace account, but I never go there. And I seldom keep up with Facebook, either. It takes all my energy just to keep up on my LJ friends page. Let's not even talk about Twitter. (Not there, don't know if I ever will be.) So, tell me oh readers, where are you? Why? And how the hell ( Read more... )

I've been on LJ for about 3 years and only went on Facebook in late July because many of the people that I know tend to post there. On FB I avoid all apps and games like the plague.

That's it. Two sites. I check LJ once a day, and Facebook twice.

Do you read everything your friends post? Or limit it? (Or is it that you don't have large friends lists on these sites, so it's not an issue?)

How do I keep up? It is top secret, but I can tell you that it involves a DeLorean, a flux capacitor, 1.21 gigawatts and judicious use of the extra hour we get when Daylight Saving time ends.

Seriously. I don't keep up well at all. I filter out my communities on LJ 99% of the time, and if I miss a couple of days on Facebook I don't try to backtrack.

I was really into Twitter when I first joined, and I ought to sit down and create some filters so when I'm there I can make better use of it.

My sister and husband (toanstation both use filters on Facebook. If you have a manageable number of friends but still get too many updates, you can opt out of receiving game notices. Look to the right of the update, and there is a way to do so.

As far as LJ is concerned, I just try to sit down with it every night. If I let it go too many days, it ends up piling up. Like others on here said, LJ is my main connectivity, since I find the interactions to be more substantial. Plus, I've made many LJ friends in the past year or so.

I use LiveJournal exclusively. I don't fall in with the social networking fads, although I do have a Friendster account a look at mebbe once a year. That was popular for awhile, then it was MySpace, then Twitter, then FaceBook, soon FaceBook will be out and MySpace will be back, then it'll be something else. But LJ always stays strong, because it's based on real content, not "I'm using the restroom right now!" or some such nonsense.
