It's a blustery day outside! Several more of the bulbs on the hanging lights outside on our back porch shattered. :P But other than that I love days like this, and we're supposed to get storms later ::crosses fingers:: - I haven't had a chance to see a storm sky out where we're living now, and I'm really looking forward to it ( Read more... )

Glad your eye thing cleared up! And hope work is more enjoyable in the future (I can totally see Natasha having those feels about new recruits).

I remember thinking about Heavy in Your Arms a while back and having a really good idea. Now if I can just remember what the idea was... I'll get back to you. Anyway, for now, the obvious thing to have is Fury changing his mind. What changes his mind is the interesting thing. Does Coulson have a sneaky/ manipulative/ awesome moment? Does Fury see footage of them fighting together and very practically decides he wants them on his side? Does he have an emotional revelation or breakthrough? Is Hill involved at any point?

I'm definitely counting any fic I write for NaNo btw.

Well Fury strikes me as someone who is willing to change tact and admit his errors as long as it doesn't weaken his position. Goes with the pragmatism. Or the Council could be like "kill both of them immediately" which makes him start to think it isn't such a great idea, because if the Council agrees with you, you really need to reconsider your life choices.

Our Fury is definitely like that... but this one? He's all twisted up inside. I'm not sure if I'm going to really get the council involved (though I need to really consider that.) In my *normal* headcanon the Council not only oversees SHIELD but they were also involved in the Red Room. I need to figure out if that's still the case, here.

I am, of course, still working on Heavy In Your Arms. I may get another Interlude done today.

*flails*

Hmm... I can't see Fury being happy about Nat joining SHIELD for some time. Maybe she does something to prove her loyalty (other than her bond with Clint). Can she give them vital information in exchange for joining, or complete a mission that no one else can? And Fury grudgingly accepts, and puts Clint and Nat on probation. Or something.

:D

I'm not 100% convinced that by the end of all of this? That Fury will be in charge anymore. :-/

Yes, Nat will have to (eventually) offer herself up and/or prove her loyalty somehow... I'm still trying to decide how involved to get the Red Room, too. Argh! ::headdesk::

Maybe once she and Clint escape from the Red Room, she offers SHIELD what she knows about the Red Room and offers to help take it down? And Clint wants to help her, because a) he's loyal like that, b) he knows what they did to her.

On this note, I would love to see Clint's reaction on (re)discovering all the messed up stuff they've pulled on her and her subsequent discovery that it doesn't always have to be that way.

Also loyal!Clint is pretty much my favorite Clint. Hufflepuff feels :)

I also pretend to be patient with people. Also, I do a very convincing at being sympathetic and happy. *grins*

You should totally count HiYA and other Avengers fics for NaNo! I say that only because I plan on it and it's nice to not be the only one squishing the rules. A bit.

When I was reading one of the parts, I had a thought about Fury. Could it be that he is against them being together until he realizes that they're in the perfect position to take down a particularly nasty big bad? And he decides that if they make it out of the situation alive, they can stick around. And I think Coulson SHOULD try to do something to keep the cellist alive so that when C&N are still alive at the end, he can feel guilty for his choice.

Pretty much the only NaNo rule I'm *not* willing to squish is the "only things written in November" rule. Once I might've even counted the weekly pep-talk email I wrote for the region into my wordcount totals... ::is ashamed::

Re: Fury... I'm not sure. (Although I love that idea and may use it somewhere else sometime! It would actually slot in kind of nicely with my headcanon/backstory of doom.) I think Phil is going to start looking for leverage against him (Fury) at this point, because he's realizing that Fury isn't making rational decisions anymore. Not entirely, anyway.

yes, that is the only hard and fast rule I have, too. I figure I give them money so I can break the others. :D

Oooh! I really like that idea of Fury being out of his mind because THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU LOSE YOU SOULMATE! It's a good lesson for Coulson to learn! He shouldn't give up the cellist! and he shouldn't try to separate Clint and Natasha!

Nod nod. I think where Fury is coming from is two-fold. With Phil, I think he sees keeping them apart as helping to protect Phil. Like, "right now you just miss her, or think you do. But that's infinitely better than bonding with her and that going badly."

And with Clint and Natasha, he sees a replay of what happened with him and his soulmate. He doesn't have any faith in the power of the bond to keep one person from betraying another, and has kind of a knee-jerk "burn it to the ground" reaction because it reminds him so much of his situation. So, Fury's definitely not coming from a rational place anymore.

And then? There's THIS:

I was intrigued by the Nashville trailer I saw but not sold but after seeing this? I am damn well going to track down the pilot and give it a chance.

How would you, Dear Reader, like to see the thread with Fury (his whole vendetta and them being on the run from SHIELD, and of course Coulson's quandry) resolved?

Regarding Coulson and his cellist - first, I really want a scene where Coulson introduces himself and is very, very careful not to touch her.... because he wants to give her the option to turn him down. Secondly, wouldn't want Coulson to give up the good fight for love... because that is just so pivotal to who he is (and I'm not a big fan of people ripping out a huge part of their life for one other person... it seems like that's just a breeding ground for resentment and dysfunction.)

That's my two cents.

YAY! :D

Re: Coulson... if he quits SHIELD at the end of all of this, it won't just be because of her. The one in this particular story is getting kind of... tired? A little world-weary. He's ready for a change overall, but I'm not sure yet if it'll be just a more administrative job or actually quitting.

I see what you mean. And it seems like how his arc with Fury ends is going to inform what happens next with him.
