First - I might be doing a dumb thing, but I kind of assigned myself a project at work. Mostly on purpose. TL;DR version is that I'm tired of not having a complete parts list for some equipment and am going to make one myself. Because that means I get to play with spreadsheets and stuff (and hopefully that one guy in tech will quit bitching ( Read more... )

I am first so I get to pick... Buffy!

Oh, you picked my problematic fandom. Hi conflicted fandom, how are you today?

1. The first character I fell in love with I started to say Willow, because that's my obvious answer, except I really think I liked Buffy before Willow. Then I realized I think I liked Xander the most, the most quickly.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Cordelia. Hands down. (But not really until Angel.)

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
Hmm... Anya maybe?

4. The character I love that everyone else hates
Tough one. Who does everyone else even hate on this show? I'm not sure how to answer this one.

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer
Buffy

6. The character I would shag anytime
Tara

7. The character I'd want to be like
Jenny

8. The character I'd slap
Oh, form me a queue, will you? Buffy, absolutely. Willow, definitely. Everyone else, form a line, you'll get your turn, too.

9. A pairing that I loveBuffy/Xander (and/or Buffy/Xander/Willow) (I'm normally thinking seasons 1-3 for these ( ... )

I have all the seasons but 3 (I don't know why I'm missing that one) and I almost think of it as two different shows. It did lose focus (as did Joss and the writers there for awhile) but then it got a sort of different focus that not everyone was a fan of. Of course, I look at it differently as I came to on DVD without having seen it at all and was able to ingest it in very large chunks so I don't have the same feelings as people who saw the show when they had to wait whole weeks at a time to see the next installment. That makes a different sort of fan, I think.

I've got a great image of you standing in the middle of the Bronze and the characters are queuing up out the door! *grins* Of course, I don't know what you look like. So it's the you in my head. She's got long dark hair, for some reason. But I digress...

That makes a different sort of fan, I think. You know, you're probably very right about that. I'm definitely in the "watched it as it aired" camp, and too, I have a really narrow margin of styles of camp/slap stick humor that I like. They really pushed me on that one in later seasons. The whole "high school is hell" metaphor was so deftly done - it was immersive and absolute (and literal) while still being used metaphorically. They balanced doing the literal and symbolic so well at first, but it felt very forced later ( ... )

Avengers! Well, Marvel, with emphasis on the Avengers.

There are actually two questions here.

MARVEL
1. The first character I fell in love with Kitty Pryde (though Storm, Dani, Illyana, and Rahne come in really close behind.)

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now Wolverine

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't Cyclops

4. The character I love that everyone else hates I... don't know how to answer this question.

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer I don't know that I've fallen out of love with anyone in the Marvel universe.

6. The character I would shag anytime Wolverine

7. The character I'd want to be like Kitty Pryde

8. The character I'd slap SO MANY. Cyclops is RIGHT AT THE TOP OF THE LIST. Joss had Emma do it for me.

9. A pairing that I love Rogue/Gambit, but my first major 'ship was Kitty/Piotr

10. A pairing that I despise Scott/Jean

and also, if I can remember:

11. Why it piqued my interest in the first place I know everyone gets tired of hearing this story. Tough ( ... )

Yay, Rogue/Gambit!

I'm with you on Clint/Coulson. I mean, I'm not surprised that it exists, people will ship anything, but the popularity of it baffles me. When I first came to the fandom and saw all the Clint/Coulson fic I thought I'd missed a memo or something. Especially since the whole 'Coulson is Clint's handler' thing is never actually said in canon.

That, and I've stumbled across way too many Clint/Coulson fics that bash Natasha or treat her as some sort of roadblock to Cock True Love. Every single time Clint/Coulson and Clint/Natasha is listed in the pairings for a fic you can bet that Clint/Natasha is a distraction to be overcome and Clint/Coulson is endgame. Which is fine, but it annoys me when it happens every. Single. Time.

Basically, there is way too much cock in this fandom. The ladies need more love!

I have also had that problem in some of the Clint/Coulson, Clint/Natasha combo fics. I really like Coulson as a character, but the character that I see I just can't see in a relationship with Clint (or either of them, actually).

I really love fic that highlights the other female characters, but I'm leery of adding any new characters (male or female, really) to the mix outside of the ones already presented in the movie-verse. To me right now it feels like just the right amount of people, and I've seen shows/movies go terribly wrong when too many additional characters get added in and then *everybody* gets shorted on time and attention. I also don't have a lot of slash pairings in this particular fandom that I like, partly because I'm really, really fond of the het pairings going on already, and don't particularly want to break any of them up.

1. The first character I fell in love with Harry

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now Snape

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't Albus Severus (I don't have anything against him, I just don't have/get the overwhelming adoration.)

4. The character I love that everyone else hates Ginny

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer Dumbledore

6. The character I would shag anytime ALL OF THEM. Ok no, not really. Harry, Hermione, Ginny, and Tonks are on the short list.

7. The character I'd want to be like Hermione, or maybe Luna

8. The character I'd slap Dumbledore

9. A pairing that I love Harry/Ron/Hermione

10. A pairing that I despise Harry/Draco

and also, if I can remember:

11. Why it piqued my interest in the first place My cousin, who is a children's librarian, used to send me books for my birthday and for Christmas every year. The very last one I got for her (because, well, I grew up I suppose) was "The Sorcerer's Stone". I received it the week I headed back to my second ( ... )
