Also, I'm pondering going back to school for IT. anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Working in IT kinda sucks, don't make it a career path. :/

Right now there is a major glut in IT for a lot of the developers, Java, VB, Web. However if you are looking for a programming type of job, PeopleSoft or AS/400 (iSerries) would be in a much higher demand.

Other than that, network security, infrastructure, application admin would also be safer bets.
