Why the greasy poop are we in the UK subject to all your election shenanigans?

I am aware that the US is sufficiently important for the rest of the world to take notice, but why oh fudging why is it stuffed down our throats by the media to the exclusion of other subjects?

Did you know the Canadians had their election yesterday?
I swear people here have a stronger opinion on mcain/obama than they do on labour/tory/lib dem. Probably even so for the Obama/Clinton thing.

Exactly my point. The UK news media have made such small reference to such things that I was regrettably unaware that Canada was involved in so significant an event.
