Or stand up, be counted while I cast my ballot

If you are a Californian, the registration deadline is tomorrow! If you're not registered at your current address (or, god forbid, at all), go find a form at the DMV, county office, or library (if you're on a campus you'll probably run into a voter registration drive). If you can't make it to any place like that tomorrow, download this PDF, fill it ( Read more... )

I'm already registered, but I bet you knew that. :-)

I admire you for being so involved with this election. I just haven't had the time or energy to be as involved as I'd like to be. I used to get up and get out for causes I believed in; I went door-to-door for No on 85, backed SMUD over PG&E as our power providers, and way back when, stood up for Kerry even when he kinda annoyed me. This election features so many things I care deeply about, but I'm just so unbelievably busy it's unreal. It's hard to give your time and get out there when you've been spending every fourth night at the hospital (not sleeping) and have only one day off per week. Sigh.

Anyway. No on 4, no on 8, yes on 2 (and it is RARE that I vote yes on any proposition whatsoever), and go Obama ALL THE WAY.

Yeah, whereas I never pulled my weight in an election before, even when I had plenty of time, so I'm glad to finally be doing something. Coulda done more... I imagine if I lived in a swing state, I'd really have gotten caught up in the Obama campaign, but here, it's hard to be invested or find others who are. Not an excuse, but true. So at least the gay marriage thing is something local that matters.
