Oooo, spooky! I'll have to re-read this on Halloween.

Great bit of writing!

Heheh yes it's more a halloween story than a Christmas one. I blame it on Cassiopaya's prompt about things lurking in the snow.
And really, winter can be a terrifying time. We just don't think about it because we've got our cities and our heating and our fancy winter clothes and boots.

And thank you, I'm glad you like it. There will be more in a bit. :D

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!

Mercer: What do you call a blind dinosaur?
Beckett: (glares) What?
Mercer: Doyuothinkhesauros.
Beckett: (huffs)
Mercer: What do you call a blind dinosaur's dog?
Beckett: (eyeroll)
Mercer: Doyouthinkhesauros Rex.
Becket: You're fired.

Now I'm wondering if there will be a carriage escape and then a cliff and then a tree and then Mercer rescuing Beckett from the carriage wreck.

Glad you're enjoying it. It's fun writing something that's not serious. I mean it does have its moments, but then I go and insert a Jurassic park quote and it's suddenly funny. :D

Oh! Oh! I hadn't thought to move on to the second one! That opens up a world possibilities. There might be carriage-over-the-cliff moment.

Beckett: Well, we're back in the carriage again.
Mercer: Yes, but at least we're out of the tree.

Also...are these creatures pursuing our...protagonists skinwalkers or some variant? Was I getting the correct North American and Norse influence on the Northern Wind and Lights?

Haha, I was thinking about JPII with the T-Rex knocking the caravan over the edge of the cliff.

Beckett: Uh, not another tree. I hate trees.
Elizabeth: I love trees.
Beckett: Yeah, well you weren't the last one.

"Protagonists" is a nice way to put it. Especially where my two favourite lads are concerned. But as for the creatures, they're not one thing in particular. It's more the general fear of the dark and the unknown. I'm still torn about if they'll ever see the creatures.
