Last Author Standing Challenge - Rules
01. Every two weeks, a prompt will be given. Participants will write a fic/story for the prompt, and voting will eliminate people for each challenge until we have the Last Author Standing.
02. Everyone who wants to participate must sign-up! (There will be a Sign-Up post later.) You have till Oct 3 (Sunday) to sign up (two weeks).
03. Prompts are posted every two weeks on Friday. The first challenge will be posted Oct 1 (Friday). You have until the Wednesday of the second week to write something (Oct 13 for the first challenge). Voting starts when posting is closed and ends Friday (Oct 15 for the first challenge), then the name of the eliminated person is revealed and the next prompt is posted.
04. Fics/stories must be at least 100 words but there’s no maximum limit. You are not expected to write very long fics, most of the LAS communities seem to have a 1000 word upper limit for fics but I decided to drop that. The length of your fic is up to your muse.
05. Originally these communities require your fic to be posted anonymously for objective voting but I dropped that too. I think we know each other’s styles well enough by now to be able to guess who wrote what without seeing the names so it would be useless trying to do this. I am confident nobody will vote based on friendships but the merits of the fics posted.
06. Anyone may vote, including people who are not participants of the challenge and even people who are not part of the community. It is very welcome to ask your friends to have a look at the entries and vote (but it is obviously against the rules to tell them to vote for you). AND! you can only vote if you commented on ALL fics posted for the prompt, to prove you have read everything and decided based on your opinion of the fics written. Participants may NOT vote for themselves.
07. Every participant starts the challenge with one skip, which may be used to skip a challenge provided that the mod is informed before the challenge is due. If a skip is not utilized and a participant misses a challenge, that participant will be disqualified. Skips cannot be used in the last 2 challenges (when only 3 ppl are still in the game).
08. There are as many Challenges in a Round as needed until only the last member, the winner of the Round is left. This person will get a reward from the mods.
