I woke to find him screaming, I'd left him dreaming, a terrible feat.
I had wanted to hold you when we first met. Your eyes told me that you'd rather suffer death than be in my arms and so I smiled (twisted) and wished you good day with a bow.
You're looking at me now, shocked, gasping, dying - head on my lap, my fingers in your hair. You wanted to know how, you wanted to know why, you wanted to know when and all you could manage was my name. I smiled, kissed your brow, and wished you a good after life and held you as you faded from me.
