Oh I have been waiting for this and I am not disapointed.

“You won’t do that,” she replied in a simpering voice, “not when I have something that you long for, Cutler Beckett.”

“Lord Beckett.”

LOVED that moment - it was so wonderfully IC. And the ending was brilliant. I can't wait to see what the Greville business yields!

Might I inquire as to the origins of that icon? Is that from a movie?

Yes - this is from "Libertine," where Depp plays the main protagonist. A prostitute has just said to Mr Etheridge (Hollander)"Take a nibble?"

Thanks so much for commenting, ansketil rose. And I love the "Libertine". One of my favorite movies of all time.

*dances a happy dance* YAY! This story just keeps getting better and better. I love it. I wonder what Beckett is going to do and if Maggie really intends to leave without little George. Hmm... interesting...

Thanks so much! Yes, Beckett certainly has a tough choice to make regarding George and of course, he can't trust Maggie at all. Hopefully, I'll have the next chapter posted soon. Have a good weekend!

Its never easy with those two, is it? Though I imagine (as Beckett probably does) that Maggie wants more that just Beckett's silence in exchange for his heir; then there's the possibility she might actually be attached to the little guy as well. And there that business with Greville, very mysterious. Great chapter, can't wait for the next!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment! Yes, it is never easy between Beckett and Maggie and it doesn't help that they are both such stubborn people. With any luck, I should have the next chapter written and posted in about two weeks (hopefully less). Have a great weekend!

This story reminds me some British movies, so elegant and accurate, with good actors and nice plot. Impressive and intriguing! Characters are vivid and Beckett is almost human, I like it!

Thanks so much! Ah yes, I do love period movies, especially since I am history major and hoping to focus on 18th century English history. Greville and Fitzroy are both based on characters from "The Madness of King George" and Mr. Swinton is based on Hindley Earnshaw from "Wuthering Heights". Thanks again for commenting. The next chapter should be posted soon. Have a great weekend!
