Title: My Springtime of Youth
Rating: PG-13 (A first for me)
Summary: Konoha’s Springtime of Youth is an actual holiday. ^^ Just a random idea.

Chapter One

“Is it that time already?” Kakashi spared a glance to the shaggy haired Sennin standing before him, perking a silver brow when he did so. Kakashi made no attempt to mask the displeasure in his voice.

Jaraiya threw back his head, bellowing laughter. He had placed his hands on his hips and stuck out an extremely broad chest triumphantly. Kakashi found his cocky stance more annoying than anything else.

“They are eighteen now, Kakashi. Don’t you think it’s time to carry on the tradition?” Jaraiya tipped his head, raising his arms and folding them. He looked at Kakashi with demanding, inquiring eyes. “I mean, we all did it. Hell, I was thirteen for my first Springtime.”

“Don’t use that ridiculous name. You sound like Gai.”

Kakashi despised Konoha’s ‘Springtime of Youth’. It wasn’t even an official tradition. But it occurred every year in the first week of April, regardless. The ninjas in the village all kind of let loose, so to speak. Virgins were sought out and courted or seduced. Old friends got together for one night of unbridled fucking. Everyone seemed to lose their inhibitions. No elder or Hokage had ever officially approved of the damn holiday. It had just been going on for so many generations, that it had become something of an annoying routine. Kakashi thought it was disgusting.

“C’mooooon, Kakashi….” Jaraiya got a sly grin on his face and leaned over to poke at the Copy Ninja with an elbow. Kakashi scooted away. “Aren’t you curious? Will Naruto go to Sasuke or Sakura? Or someone outside his team…?”

“Don’t.” Kakashi took a steadying breath and glared towards the Sennin. “Don’t talk about it.” Kakashi didn’t want to even think about his former students and current team mates going off and… and…

Jaraiya opened his mouth, no doubt to say something foul, but Kakashi had already stood up, returned his book to his pouch, and was heading for the door. Jaraiya erupted into another round of barking laughs and called out after him, “Going to go keep them out of trouble?”

Kakashi didn’t answer, because that’s exactly what he was going to do. Check up on his three team mates. They had just returned from a mission the day before. The four had journeyed to the mountains in the Rock Country and it took them a week just to travel to their destination. Then their mission had taken four days to complete. And then another week to return home. Needless to say, they all wanted a break from each other by the time they entered Konoha’s front gates.

Kakashi sighed, pausing in the middle of a street to perform a quick hand seal. Pakkun poofed into reality, lifting a soft, bouncy paw. “Yo.”

“Find Sakura. And when you do, tell her that there has been an outbreak of mumps.” Kakashi knew how stupid that sounded. But he had been keeping all three of his former pupils out of the stupid tradition for three years running now and this year would be no different.

Pakkun just stared at the Copy Ninja for a moment. “Aren’t they eighteen this year?”

“Doesn’t matter.”

Pakkun heaved a sigh and closed his eyes. “They’re going to do it sometime, you know, you can’t avoid this forever. Their considered to be adults now.”

“Pakkun. Please do what I told you to.” Why did summoned familiars always put up such a fight?

“Alright. But let me give you some advice. Not everyone’s experience is going to be like yours.”

“That’s not advice.” Kakashi muttered, turning to walk towards Sasuke’s apartment. Pakkun shook his head and lifted his nose to the air, sniffing briefly and trotting in the opposite direction.

Sasuke was drinking a cup of water and sitting at his kitchen table, looking over a scroll. Kakashi sat on his windowsill for quite a while, waiting to see if some girl was in there with him. But as it turned out, Sasuke was very boring when he was away from his group.

Kakashi didn’t often see Sasuke look so casual. He was in a pair of black pants with no shirt. His hair, as always, was shaggy and hanging down over his eyes. He was studying the words scrawled on the scroll so intently, that he didn’t even move for ten minutes. Kakashi smirked and started to move away from the window only to freeze at the cool, sharp touch of a kunai blade on the back of his neck.

“Good morning, Sensei.”

“Good morning, Sasuke.” Kakashi didn’t move. He just stared back in the window at the cleverly placed doppelganger sitting at the table. It poofed into a log.

“Can I help you with something?” Sasuke’s voice was cold, but amused. Kakashi relaxed a little.

“Just checking in.”

“You just saw me yesterday, Sensei. Which leads me to believe that you’re here for another reason.”

“Yeah. There is.” Kakashi turned, to look at Sasuke balancing on the ledge beside him, and he smiled beneath his mask. “I’ve known you for six years now and I have never seen the inside of your apartment.”

Sasuke perked a brow. Kakashi already knew he had made a mistake. Maybe Naruto would have believed him. But Sasuke was more strategic and logical.

“See the inside of my apartment?”

“Yes.”

“And you just decided today was the day?”

“Why not?”

“This is about my Springtime isn’t it?” Sasuke was looking at him with such a dark, flat expression, that there was no point in continuing the lie.

“Well, sort of.”

Sasuke crawled back through the open window of his apartment and walked to his table, sprawling back in his chair. “It’s been taken care of.”

Oh, Kakashi didn’t like that answer at all. He pulled in a long breath to collect himself and released it by saying, “Is that so?”

“Yeah.”

Sasuke had gone back to reading his scroll and Kakashi, who was someone who liked to analyze situations to the last detail, knew that he wouldn’t be able to get much more out of him.

“I haven’t been a virgin for a while, Kakashi.” Sasuke mumbled this without looking up and Kakashi remained unresponsive and merely leaned against the windowsill, steadying himself with his chakra.

But when he spoke, it sounded hoarse and a bit choked. “I wasn’t aware you were… aaa… dating.” Kakashi winced at the sound of his own voice. He sounded like a panicking school kid.

Sasuke was staring at Kakashi now, both his brows raised high. “You didn’t know? I thought you knew everything about everyone.” Kakashi remained silent, staring right back at Sasuke, but more calmly now. Sasuke smirked and looked back down at the literature before him. “Yeah. I’m seeing someone.”

“Who?”

“I’m very busy, Sensei.” Sasuke said abruptly, standing and looking at the crouched Jounin outside his window. “I’ll see you at the missions office on Monday. Ya know. After Springtime.” And with a cruel smirk, Sasuke shut his window, followed by the curtains.
