Internet, Internet, I went to Powell's today to sell books, and I was going to stop at the University Market on the way home.

AND IT WAS GONE. >>>>>>>:( The windows are all covered up and there are signs about how it's apparently being converted into a proper deli with stupid shit like seating.I loved the University Market, guys :( It had ( Read more... )

Ways to tell I am tired and ill:

Seeing the word stout, thinking beer, and wondering how you plan on reading a beverage.

Yeah.

Other than that, impressive list :D

If I went through beer nearly as fast as I go through Rex Stout novels I'd be dead of alcohol poisoning D:

The University Market circulated their own conspiracy theory that the University had kicked them out because they didn't want competition with their new dining hall and caused a (very minor) kerfuffle. This is not true as far as I've been able to ascertain, but apparently it is true that that space is reserved for deli use. It is also true that you can still get the sandwiches at the Med, but they don't have the same awesome selection of soda.

OH HI I forgot you were also a Chicago person! I did see that rumor when I Googled, and I am hoping I will still at least be able to get the same crab salad because oh god that stuff was good. However, I am going to miss the cheap cut flowers :( And their soda aisle was really something.

I will still never understand why you would even try to blend carbonated fruit juices to simulate cream soda. Dear God, that was an unpleasant surprise.

Yup, Lakeviewian now by address, but I lived in the 'Park for two years.

I made frequent use of that soda wall, especially during finals time. I swear they were the only place I've come across in the city that sold Sioux City sarsaparilla. Was the nasty cream soda Jones'? I feel like I tried every cream soda at that place but don't remember one being particularly fruity or offensive.

No, it wasn't, I love Jones cream soda. I can't remember the brand name now, but it came in cans, and it was so offensive because it wasn't actually cream soda. It was fruit juices and seltzer and it was completely horrendous.
