I was not going to be happy with the outcome either way--two non-Euro nations facing off against each other at this stage means one less non-Euro nation making it to the finals. WOE. And I was not initially cheering for Ghana because, hello, heart-rending defeat on Saturday. I NEED TIME, OK? But they were playing

1) In my defense, I had to suffer through much Dali in two classes. [Also used to read Garcia Lorca for fun...hmmm...might need to redefine idea of fun.] I guess I was hoping, after the big buildup, that the movie would honor the filmmakers' alleged intentions. I have to both stop watching biopics and thinking that they will actually a) strive for authenticity and b) be riveting. (I'm still mad at you, _The Aviator_!!!) Anyway, Lovely Nice Housemate and I are not RP fans and were therefore unwilling to cut him the slack that Downstairs Girl--a positive devotee!!--was.

2) Glad to hear about the paper. Good luck!

3) I prize the _Bridget Jones_ video highly. It's the only way you could take that scene and make it better. (Why do I think it's OK to punch Hugh Grant? It should be the national pastime of Great Britain, methinks.)

4) Soccer's making my head hurt.

Arrgh, German v. Argentina was a slaughter, no lie. Spain v. Paraguay was better, but Spain cannot advance if they continue to play like this (also, pinball machine goal! *facepalm*).

See, I know nothing of Dali, except his major works and the fact that he was evidently nuts. (Good job on that one, R-Patz!) Thus, less offense; as long as the structure of the narrative is clean and solid, I can really let a lot go. It's when the structure is messed up that I start to question and snark.
