Yes, the straighter parts at the top of the shaft will probably curl up once you take the weight of the ends off them. It may take a day or two for them to fully recover their natural shape, but you can help them along with a deep conditioning treatment and no brushing. Ever. Brushes are too harsh for curly hair, especially wet curly hair. Wide-tooth combs or fingers only. That's probably why you're losing large amounts of hair- a brush just puts too much strain on delicate curly hair. And for the record- losing lots of hair when you brush has nothing to do with whether you need a trim. Having damaged ends means you need a trim, although most people can benefit frim a trim before their ends are visibly damaged, to prevent the beginnings of damage from working their way further up the shaft. You have really nice corkscrew curls that would probably look a litle livelier with less length, so a trim might help shape things up and give your hair added definition, but it's really up to your length preference, as long as the ends are in good

As another poster said, I dont think the hair falling out in the shower means it needs to be trimmed. I read that because curly hair is so interwoven, that the hair doesn't fall out on its own, so it tends to come out a lot in the shower. I think your hair is pretty, by the way.
No problem! I guess thats one good thing about having curly hair compared to straight hair - straight hair tends to "shed" more all the time, while we can just come ours out in the shower and get rid of most of it at once. haha
