I finally found the giant barrette I used to use to do this updo, it's like a simple bun (ponytail, grab the whole curly mass and push toward head, clip horizontally) but somehow much looser and prettier than if I try with an elastic.

I just got it cut and gave the stylist artistic freedom.. so he blow dried it with a round brush.. and that's what it looked like when he was done. I was pretty amazed.

Wow, that's awesome! I use an elastic, so every time I do that with my hair you end up seeing the bun a lot more than the curl. I really want to try this; how long is your hair?

Gorgeous.... and I have no idea what a barrette is! I have always wondered, from reading American books. Maybe I will finally google it! Cos your hair looks awesome, and I want an Australian equivalent :)
