I'm getting a haircut today and need some advice. My hair is medium length, I think 3c, and has never been dyed or straightened but is still insanely dry. My problem: it dries huge and poufy so I look like a yield sign. I'm going to ask for layers. Any other advice?

I think layers might be the way to go to get the effect you're looking for. But I would make really really sure you get someone who KNOWS how to cut curly hair... the curls are so tricky!!

Yeah, it looks like she has layers, especially on top of her head where it looks like bangs. I knew a girl with that type of hair + haircut, super cute.

Layers are your friend! I've found it's very difficult to find a stylist willing to actually do dramatic layers on curly hair, because they're terrified it will end up really big, but it actually tends to even out the volume around your head and keep it from doing the flat on top/poofy bottom triangle thing.
