Hmm,, You might have her try just a section of the hair to see what it does to the curl, maybe at the nape of your neck? It will probably loosen up your curl quite a bit, which sounds like something you'd like. Ohhh think about the upkeep on having it relaxed every 2 months or so, too. Also, not sure about chemicals when pregnant - might be an old wive's tale anyway :) Good luck!
Do you have to get it done every two or so months? I guess I'm ill informed, I just sort of figured I'd get it done once and then it would stay that way until new hair started growing? I don't really want to continue getting my hair relaxed, I just want to be able to wear it down without it shrinking to my ears and not being able to put it in a ponytail or any style that I like. Are there any alternatives to relaxing my hair?
I talked to the doctor and he says it's fine to do during pregnancy, but that women complain it doesn't keep as well!
Well, your hair can grow quite a bit in 2 months, and that new growth might look different from your treated hair. You might not mind it, or you might like the effect of the straightener on your hair enough to go have the new growth treated again. But hair can grow pretty quickly depending on the person :)
...women complain it doesn't keep as well - That's an interesting statement, I wonder why!
Well, my hair does go quickly so that makes sense. However, I don't want to get caught up in the cycle of relaxers and chemical after chemical to fix what the last one didn't. Just want manageable, damnit. Lol.
Thank you. I guess it has to do with hormones and the surge you'll have after birth. My hair has gone crazy since I hit my second trimester, I would have never even contemplated a relaxer pre-pregnancy!
Is your hair all one length? When I had long hair, I found that having it cut into long layers really did wonders for it. Since you mentioned your hair is about the same texture as the picture, then it's curlier than mine, but not my much.
Oh my gosh. You so shouldn't get your hair relaxed right now, but texturising it would be the best thing, because it loosens the curls and makes your hair more manageable only for a while. Turnergirl on fotki had natural curls and texturized, and she totally regrets. here is her page for reference http://public.fotki.com/Turnergirl/ . the chemicals also owuldn't be good for you on your baby, why do you think the hairstylist uses gloves to do the relaxer, because it's toxic! why don't you just do some layers? or get a weave in the curly hair style of your choice till you give birth and you're not so hormonal? Good luck=)
