My only advice is to have your stylest cut it dry and to avoid "stepladder layers." Layers can be fun if your stylist knows how to fit your curls together without causing them to stack.

I think it's really not bad as it is, especially in the first picture. Love the curl. =) It looks like it's really more about dryness so I'd ask them what can be done to add lots of moisture without killing it with products. Don't let them cut it all off.

yes layers, but i think it looks lovely long. also yeah, it's dry so i would suggest moisturizing by any of the zillion means (natural or through hair products) available.
other than that your curls are really pretty especially in the first pic.

Your hair is beautiful long. I agree with the others not to cut it all off. Layers would be good, of course.

I think layering it a lot would be grand - and while shoulder length would look good, you could probably go a little shorter if you wanted.
