I just dumpster dove Judaica textbooks for my students for next year. I called my mentor this afternoon, and told me that he had just recycled a ton of textbooks (sets of 10-50 of each kind). Dad and I just went and dug them out of the bin. I am exstatic that now I have something really invigorating to do while I am on vacation with my family (

I used a chumash text last year that tried to teach basic hebrew letters/vocab as well as torah stories. problem was, it was ineffective at both and the school scrapped it. It didn't teach enough hebrew to be worthwhile, and was either ages below of above my students. i like the idea of a textbook teaching multiple things, but it does make things more complicated.

I also wanna start something at the library at hillel where, as the school year ends, we start asking teachers to donate old books for other hebrew school teachers to have as resources. its a little weird as hebrew school years tend to end after university schoolyears maybe I'll post on marylandvaad listserv.
