The scone book is real comfort reading - and I already have a request to make the horseradish scones, to go with the smoked salmon which is currently in the freezer.
Did you know she has a blog writing up all her visits to NY properties?
How sad that you couldn't get together with D-d and family, but very understandable. It seems as if you got wonderful gifts, however, and your robin cake is ADORABLE!
I'm sorry to hear that Covid has landed in your family. It seems to be popping up all around me here too. Fortunately, with the weather as it is, I haven't been going out. That book about scones sounds like an entertaining read, even for this non cook.
She has had it before, and is vaccinated, so it was at the 'heavy cold' level and she says she feels almost back to normal now, but still positive. But S2C and I are both fine so she is happy to know that she didn't pass it to us on Christmas Day.
I'm so glad that despite covid in the family, you could have at least some good birthday moments. What a great robin cake! The book of scones intrigues me...I might even be inspired to make some. A Spanish style restaurant? Do they have a website? I am curious!
The robin was effective for something so simple - I was pleased with it :)
The book of scones is a lovely book - her descriptions of the houses are entertaining, and the recipes look good. I already have an order for horseradish scones from S2C.
I was wrong - it is an Argentinian based restaurant, so lots of meat. But it still looks interesting and I think we will enjoy it.
She is still positive, but feeling better. Some of their friends have been home on-island over the holidays and they had intended to have open house for them all last night. I think, if she is up for it and testing negative, they should try to reschedule that rather than coming to us as a priority as we are here all year round!
