Last Four Doing-Things Days before Christmas... The Shortest Day.

Dec 21, 2020 22:59

It is the Winter Solstice today. It has been so dark all day that there has not been a time when we didn't need the lights on indoors, and all the cars have had their headlights on all day. But there are lots of lights in windows, outside houses, and in town, so not as gloomy as it would have been otherwise ( Read more... )

It is comforting for the rest of us to know that at least you are able to do so. It gives us hope. :)

Thank you - we so want everyone to be able to just meet friends again, I am glad we give others hope.

I am very happy you can do normal things and tell us about them. That is a blessing many times over.
:)

We had a sunny Solstice which made me happy. Chilly (for us), though. Just 16ºC!

These small things have become such blessings this year - we see friends and family living under lock-down rules still in other places and just want to gather you all up and bring you here - except, of course, not doing that is how we are remaining covid-free....

It was cold (3C) when I went to go shopping at 8am this morning and I had to defrost the car - but the sun is shining now and frosty mornings are what we expect for this time of year. The different perceptions of the same temperature depending on your 'norm' always makes me smile - 16C is the point at which I reckon I can go out in a T shirt and cardigan and not bother with a coat! Whereas my 'cold' this morning would be no-coat level for someone where winter temperatures are degrees below freezing for weeks on end :)

It’s lovely to hear about normal life and Christmas being much as usual. I’m enjoying it vicariously :)

I am really pleased that our ability to do the ordinary things doesn't annoy everyone!

I am so jealous of you being able to see friends. I think not actually being able to go out and meet people and have a change of scene is slowly driving me insane LOL!

It is such an ordinary thing to be able to do - I really do hope the world as a whole can get on top of this thing so you can all go out and do ordinary things whenever you want to.
