Another sad post.

I had planned to post some pictures today of Shaka. And maybe write something about the 103 shoe-boxes we collected in church today for Drop-Inn ministries to take to the children of the Chernobyl area for Christmas.

But instead I came home from church to some news from D-d which almost had me in tears again.

It may not mean anything to anyone on my Friends List, but Marco Simoncelli is dead. D-d and I are both MotoGP fans - and from the first time we saw him, winning the 250cc world title, we were very taken with him. From his very first race in the full-blown MotoGP series we have followed him - I christened him 'Sideshow Bob' about a year before the TV commentators began to call him that.

He was an Italian, his Momma's pride and joy (asked recently by an interviewer what hair care products he used he answered "I don't know - my Momma she buy them for me..."), beautiful, full of life - and both D-d and I were a little bit in love with him. Just as so many of my FL are with James Marsters or Viggo Mortensen.

He died, as they say, doing what he loved - no-one races motorbikes if they don't love it - but he will never fulfil his potential; never, now, become a World Champion, and life is going to be a little duller without this young man in the World.

Marco Simoncelli 20/1/87 - 23/10/2011.
