Oh, it feels like summer. At first I wasn't looking for jobs out of panic, out of a constant dread that my (not unreasonable) expectations couldn't be met by any job I was qualified for. Now the dread is still there, but less so, but mostly I just want to play ukulele and hang out in the park and have a real summer like grown ups don't get to ( Read more... )

My brother works for Ars Technica, a tech journal based in the Bay Area. He can't think of anyone specifically looking for graphic design, etc, right now, but he suggested that instead of just using craigslist, etc, you should check this out ( ... )

Thank you so much for all your help! I'm working on applying to these right now, here's hoping something good happens.

Likewise, I wish you the best on all the stuff you're applying to-- the newspapers may call back yet!

I feel ya, man. I ain't never gonna grow up.

Perhaps we will both land some sort of sweet job being...cuteness testers or something. Yes! We could live in a beautiful facility with stocked kitchens and a swimming pool and a maid service, and get paid lots of money to sit in a room and be exposed to puppies, adorable toys from japan, baby pictures, and infant otters. And then give feedback on how TOTALLY HAPPY WE ARE.

Where is this future??

yes and yes and YES. Where's that job? It would be one of few that I'm applying for that I'm completely, utterly, ridiculously overqualified for.

I could even brainstorm new cute things! Chubby hippos! Bubbles! Rodents popping out of cute places! RED PANDAS!

Look! Red pandas!

Where'bouts are you living these days? I'm going to move back to the bay area this August, and I would really like to hang out! We can commiserate together over being unemployed creatives! Or you'll be employed by then and it'll just be me miserating. But that could be fun too.

I live in Berkeley with Anna, who I think you've met, and Kris, although she'll have moved out and into an apartment in SF with Rachel by the time you're back in the bay.

Hopefully I won't be unemployed come August (she says hopefully, with a slight desperate whimper in her voice), but I would love to miserate with you like I was! It's been a while, and the bay will be much improved by your presence.
