i'm using a recipe that calls for 1 stick of butter, except i don't have sticks of butter at home and i don't want to go out and buy some when i already have butter here. what is the equivalent of 1 stick of butter in cups? i think it's around 1/2 cup or 3/4 cup but i'm not totally sure.

help: ingredients

You should never replace sticks with whipped butter. The whipped butter has more air in it and therefore what you measure out is less than is in a stick. Maybe if you measured in ounces it would work though.
