I'll be home alone most of the day on Thanksgiving, as my husband has duty (he's in the Navy) and we don't have any family up here. Also, I work in retail (a bookstore) and will definitely be working the day after Thanksgiving (aka "Black Friday"). So of course I figure I'll spend most of the day on Thanksgiving making cupcakes. i did an awesome pumpkin-pecan cupcake with cream cheese frosting (you could also do orange cream cheese or maple cream cheese)

i do like the cranberry idea though...cranberries goes well with orange/tangerine and dark chocolate too

well pumpkin and cranberry were mentioned and they're typically thanksgiving day flavors.

what about decorating a pull-apart cupcake cake as a turkey??

also, would you mind sharing the recipe for the earl grey and orange cupcakes??? those sound AWESOME!

The Earl Grey were super easy. I basically just made a yellow box mix, then cut open 6 teabags of Earl Grey tea (optional: crush the tea leaves further with a mortar and pestle) and stir in. Bake as usual. Then I just made buttercream frosting and added orange juice in to taste (I never measure my frosting ingredients, so I don't remember how much I used).

Hmmm, I will be spending a lame Thanksgiving alone BECAUSE I have to work Black Friday at my bookstore job. Perhaps I should do some cupcakes as well Thanksgiving evening? I'm very interested to hear what you decide!

I'll try to come back and let you know what I decide. I'm going out of town for a week, so I'll be deciding in the days leading up to Thanksgiving.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I've decided on doing cranberry cupcakes with white chocolate cream cheese frosting, pumpkin cupcakes (from here: http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,196,147183-227200,00.html) and black bottom cupcakes in honor of black fridy (from here: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Black-Bottom-Cupcakes-I/Detail.aspx)
