yes--i used a box mix and substituted the sodas for all the liquid ingredients, though i also included an egg white. i've heard of people using orange sodas in yellow cakes, so i think i will try that next, to do a creamsicle flavored cupcake.

I love your tip about using soda, and I think the idea of a cupcake swap sounds like so much fun - I wish I lived nearby! Every Christmas I bake tons of gingerbread cookies and plain cupcakes, and invite my children's friends over and turn them loose for a decorating party. I've always secretly wanted to have something like that for myself and my grownup friends!
