Wow. As a fan of the book, I must say this fit the book's ending very well. Very chilling. Poor Jonas. And poor, poor Giver!

*g* I'm glad you liked it! Invariably, I always re-read this book every year and I've found that more and more, I think that Jonas's decision was incredibly impulsive and near-sighted.

That may be the true, but I think I'd have done the same, too, just to save Gabe at least.

*nods* I probably would as well, but I think the sequel shows that Jonas never went back. I'm going by the wiki; I haven't read the sequel. I think that sort of negates the whole idea that Jonas is the only person in the book who loves his family and friends. I mean, if he loved them... he would have gone back. He would have possibly tried to warn them. I mean, what could they do to him? They couldn't Release him... I guess they could lock him up? I dunno. It's interesting to think about. *g*
