Meanwhile, back on the hippo ranch... (aka doing November backwards)

Last week, I got a response from an agent I queried last year. This, in and of itself, was sort of spiffy, since I was batting at about 60% cricket-chirping silence in response to Boralos queries. As a (big) bonus, it was a "I really like your writing voice, but..." response. I've been getting quite a few of those. But I can't sell single-volume ( Read more... )

Wow, congrats on the response and getting on the hippo to make the editorial changes. And I'll be very interested in hearing your technical notes on using Scrivener. Even though I'll never write a novel, I'm fascinated by the sausage-making on the technical end.

Akshully, I think Scrivener might be a very handy tool for collating any sort of large creative project - I'm thinking here of gaming campaigns. It's a good way to keep notes and plans and character bios and resources (like maps and charts) in the one place. There's no reason those have to be used for a novel. :) If anything else leaps out at me in the process, I'll bring it up; otherwise, I'll put together my thoughts on using it at the end of the edit.

That is so exciting! I hope the hippo-ride goes well. *\o/*

Also yay, Scrivener. I've only used it for a couple of things but it grew on me really, really fast. :)

Thank you m'dear!

I was a slow burn on it, but I think I've come around. Several of its elements really are just so very handy. I think perhaps it's a little daunting when starting out - just so many empty pockets - but with a project to fill it up, the usefulnesses start to show.

That's great news!

And I'm fascinated to hear about Scrivener - another writing friend of mine talks about it a lot, so perhaps I should give it a look... assuming I can get it for Mac, of course...

Scrivener, in fact, started out as a Mac program. (I know, what madness is this? :D)
