Stop asking and use your imagination

JK Rowling has been sharing more extra-curricula details about the books. (It's hardly her fault, I suppose, if people keep asking.)

Amusing to note/confirm that Tonks was a Hufflepuff, but my favourite, obviously, is ( Who does Draco marry? )

That whole thing made me giggle for a lot of reasons, many of which I am sure you can guess.

Wizarding Power Couple!

I was writing this and I got to the "at a party on the arm of..." and the brain goes, "Adrian!" and I laughed and said, "Well yes, but also no."

Ha. Adrian isn't shocking enough.

What makes me laugh so hard is that for all that Adrian keeps telling himself he wants an Astoria very much as you've described her (and that was about how I saw it: she's the safe choice), Adrian wouldn't put up with her for long enough to actually marry her. Unlike Draco, he's smart enough to figure out that she won't make him happy before the wedding.

But Draco points out that unlike Blaise, he hasn't been divorced at all! *G*

We're all waiting avidly for Adrian to fall in love and elope with someone vastly inappropriate, you know.

I think part of it, in my head at least, is that Astoria adored and worshipped and looked up to Draco, which no one had ever done - even Pansy's fawning back in the day was somewhat calculating. That was a bit heady, but not likely to sustain. And if anyone tried that on Adrian, Pansy would mock them both to death I imagine he'd laugh a lot... OR WOULD HE? *G* (Men, they're all the same; says Pansy.)

When everybody was talking about Dumbledore's surprise, the spouse said, "What, did she write another book or something?"

I said, "No, she said all that in an interview."

He said, "Then that's just her opinion, and her opinion is no better than anyone else's now."

True dat. I'm pretty much indifferent to the "NEW CANON" thing. On the one hand, death of the author. On the other hand, her opinion is just as good as anyone else's, and if people keep asking her questions, the responses are still new random-inputs to generate fun meta. *g*

Mostly I'm just viciously amused by the notion of a hundred Pansy-RPers going, "...wait, you mean I don't get Draco Malfoy? BITCH!" *cough*
