The Unfinished Fic Files #3 - Incest

Jan 31, 2007 10:04

I set out to write "filthy, wrong and loving it" Wincest, mostly as some sort of protest because what I really loved about the pairing was the WRONG, and it was in the midst of a spate of "healthy sexual relationship" fic or something. I wrote it, and it just didn't quite feel right. So I flung it over to Brenda, and she told me that what was wrong ( Read more... )

Okay, so I read back over this, because I'd forgotten about it. Then I remembered what was so great about it & what you needed to fix.

For the record, I still stand by what I said back then. ;) But even without X, Y, Z & K, you're still the only Wincest writer I will ever read, because you make me SEE it.

Which we all know ain't easy.

I think my favourite part of you telling me what was wrong with it was:
[14:17] Brenda: they hunt & argue & kill for each other &, in your sick world, they fuck *g*
[14:17] titania fae: i like my sick world. *G*
[14:17] Brenda: i know you do

You're still absolutely and entirely 100% right about this. I'm just, I suspect, entirely over that fandom. *pouts*

But dude, y'know, I FEEL that victory. *G* I feel like I should get a medal, or at least a t-shirt.

It is pretty sad that you're over the fandom. They're going to a pretty dark place this season, for the most part. You'd love Dean now. *g*

Really? Cos every time I hear something about it it sounds like Dean's whinging or getting all emo, and I'm glad I'm out of it. (I was re-reading the Scarecrow snark the other day, and I say something about this being the episode where I realised Dean wasn't as cool in the show as he was in my head. I think it was all downhill from there.)

But hey, if you say so, then it's entirely possible I would. Maybe when the whole season is over I'll download and have a look, but really, the fun went out of watching when the Male stopped watching with me.

Heh. Actually, I'm kinda at a point where I kinda hate it myself - I'm so incredibly meh about the show and I haven't read anything in ages. That's one of the reasons I'm cleaning out my WIPs like this.

But I am much glee at hearing that lot. One of my ongoing niggles with the fandom was that I was really interested in seeing it done realistic, which is hard and therefore, I fully admit, not something that every writer's going to want to work with. But anyway, short version: YAY! *G*

The unfinishedness was more to do with overall structure. Brenda (my constantly capable beta, always hitting me over the head with things I should know better about) pointed out that I wasn't really doing anything with this, just throwing a whole lot of bits together. It needed me to thread these beads into a really strong, coherent necklace, and while I could see what, and how, I just ran out of enthusiasm on doing it. *winces*

I must admit, the word grid happened in real life, and I was Dean. *G*

Man, I completely miss your SPN posts this season. And this has just some brilliant images in it. Sigh. Thanks for sharing it, even if you don't plan on finishing it.

I miss doing 'em! All the fun sort of went out of it when the Male stopped watching. It's all his fault. Throw rocks at him.

Thank you for saying nice things about it. *G*
