I blame you, of course, for my sudden descent into SW fanfic.
I've been reading other fics, elsewhere, and they are crap, just so aesthetically dissatisfying given how beautiful the SW universe is. Then you posted this, and I just love the delicate understatement, that sneaky-fucker thing you do with POV, dialogue with the right accent, and it's all beautiful and shiny and new again.
And I take the credit with much glee and fists of victory.
I hear you on the let-down of fic to universe. There is, though, some beauteous, fabulous, scrumptious stuff out there. Let me know if you need me to compile a best-of of my recs or something. Eager to help drag you further down the slippery slope. *G*

Moi? *evil grin and dance of glee!* Thank you so much, m'dear.
padme is an interesting character. i'm not sure what to make of her just yet. obi-wan on the other hand, i like. or at least, I like your version of him. rougher. capable.
lovely fic darling. can tell you've been reading lions of al-rassan *g*
Padme is an interesting character, and she takes time to get into, but I think she rewards the effort expended. There are layers and complexities there worth exploring. Because fuck knows George Lucas didn't bother. *G*
And Obi-Wan is such a god (a flawed god, but a god nonetheless).
can tell you've been reading lions of al-rassan -- God, can't you just? There were a couple of phrases in there where I went, "OK, now the influence is just getting blatant." *G*
imagining how hard it's going to be on Obi-Wan later in canon -- I had to physically restrain myself from launching off into "and then, years later, here's how it felt". Seriously. The delete key was employed. (Alright, not the delete key; I copied and pasted into another file, because words should never be summarily dismissed. And also, that might be something to explore another time.)
Man. The scenes with them in the bar are amazingly, amazingly strong. I love how you do the setup economically, without giving us anything but the bare bones, then open up with details like her drink fizzing, Qui-Gon's inflection, and Obi-Wan's blush. It's remarkably effective.
this slips by so easily, and yet with such intensity. vivid imagery, beautiful, so clear in the mind's eye, especially when you remember natalie portman's unforgettable smile.
Thank you! This really is a comment to be clutched delightedly to my bosom (except that monitors are so unwieldy like that).
especially when you remember natalie portman's unforgettable smile -- I really did feel, even more than usual, that I was pivoting off the physicality of the actors involved with this story. Er... which is a slightly wanky way of saying, "thank you especially for that!" *G*
