My journal will be friends only from now on. This is not in reaction to any big horrible THING that has happened, it's just something that I probably should have been doing all along (hurrah identity protection/being smart on the internet

considering going friends-only as well, given LJ's recent changes, which actually I'm not completely familiar with yet. what do you think? also, thinking of backing up my entire LJ. I heard there's somewhere you can do that, but I'm guessing it probably costs you money

This isn't really in response any changes LJ has made - I'm guessing you mean the crosslinking to Facebook/Twitter thing? I'm not really worried about that, because...I don't think any of my friends are dumb enough to crosspost anything they say here to Facebook, anyway.:P

(And I know that originally you could crosspost a comment even if it was in response to a protected entry - I'm not sure if they've changed that or not. But going FO might not make any difference.)

Basically, I have enough stuff about my personal life (where I went to school, etc.) in here that I might be fairly findable if someone put their mind to it. I think yours is probably vague enough that you're okay, but hey, extra caution online is never a bad thing.
