Because the teacher only looked at metaphysics and epistemology, and didn't touch on ethics, political philosophy or aesthetics. For what was supposed to be a broad subject, it was very focused on specific (boring) topics.
The course I did was The History of Modern Philosophy, which covered some major thinkers from 1500 to 1900. I really prefer contemporary philosophy. I have a hard time with old texts.

Motherfucker, I hated that course sooo much.
Why? History of Philosophy seems to me to be the only sub-discipline where philosophy can actually look at itself in a hermeneutic manner.
